Not quite. I just don't recall seeing your face around, before. [ Besides, he's seen senior recruits just standing around before. ]
Green? You'll be under Armada's command, then. [ If he didn't know that before, in any case. Gino takes the offered hand, shaking politely; it's nice to know some of the newbies have manners still (a few he'd met earlier sure hadn't). ]
It's a pleasure. My name's Nobuchika Ginoza. [ A mouthful, to be sure. ] But, just Ginoza is fine.
Got it. [He understands the pain of having tongue-twisting names all too well.] Nice to meet you!
[Despite how serious he was earlier, his switch to a more friendly and open attitude doesn't take too long at all. It's an easy act to do.] I've heard a few things here and there about Armada. Most of them were good.
[ Thank goodness he understands. Gino can't even say his name is particularly long or difficult in comparison to some others, but it still isn't easy. Maybe one day he'll introduce himself but his nickname. But he's still a little too stuffy for that. ]
Admittedly, I don't know much about him, but I've heard much the same as you. Most of the recruits on Green seem to be quite happy with their leadership. [ Actually, most of the teams aren't too bad. Red's probably got the most abrasive now that Ghost has stepped in to help Blue out in Gliese's place. However, Red's a strange bunch overall, so they seem to like Dagger well enough. As much as a bunch of shady people like anything, he supposes. ]
How much have they told you, thus far?
[ About CDC. He remembers not knowing much at all. Not that he knows too much more now, but still. ]
[In terms of being told? Very little. But it seems that the organization wasn't so stingy on their files as they were with their words. Guy's been relying on what he's heard from the recruits so far and what he's read. It's all an awful lot to take in.]
About this job, you mean? [That's the easiest to point to start with. He sighs.] We're in the business of destroying planets. We're going to be stuck together for a very long time. And, apparently, the previous batch of newbies had it worse than we did.
[ It's an awful lot and it still won't seem like enough when he's done. He's felt that way since he got here, and he's had more months to digest all the information. There are definitely moments where he's leaned on the other recruits for help. And he has no doubt that will continue. They should all be able to depend on each other, after all. ]
Not a bad summary. The last group certainly had a rougher time of it, quite honestly. [ Being dropped onto a cold planet like Ajna wasn't fun for anyone involved, really. ]
Did they tell you that before or after you said yes?
[ Because it's one or the other, and it can be a terrible thing to carry when it was the "after" choice. He still dislikes that they'd withheld the information, that they'd tricked him into it. ]
[Guy's beef wasn't with the recruits. He understood that much. The CDC was at fault and, to some extent, it was his own naivety that pushed him into this predicament. Relying on each other--helping each other--was a way to survive. He feels as though he could trust some of the people he's met to watch his back, early as it may be to be coming to such conclusions.
Guy's smile becomes a little bitter.]
There's this saying: "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar." [And what an idiot he was for reaching so hastily for the honey.] I didn't get the full details until I was beamed up. They got me pretty good.
GINO.
[Gino's question is met with a soft laugh.] I look like it with how I'm standing around, don't I? Yeah. I'm one of the additions to the Green Team.
[Guy isn't without his manners. He offers a hand.] Guy Cecil.
